ABERGAVENNY THEATRE SUMMER SCHOOL

Monday 29th July – Friday 9th August
Melville Centre for The Arts, Abergavenny

Devising work created from the themes and issues brought forward by young people, the summer school sessions will develop different creative skills, aiding participants to develop confidence in ideas development and performance. The summer school will be led by experienced facilitators, Lisa Zahra and Junior Mujica and will use different practice styles to build a rounded and immersive collection of pieces. These bespoke sessions will give participants the opportunity to explore different aspects of theatrical practice, grow their skill set and have fun telling their stories in new and exciting ways.

CHEPSTOW THEATRE SUMMER SCHOOL

Monday 19th August – Friday 23rd August
11 – 19 years
Drill Hall, Chepstow

SAVOY YOUTH THEATRE SUMMER SCHOOL

Monday 29th July – Saturday 10th August (11 – 19 years)
Monday 5th August – Saturday 10th August (8 – 10 years)
The Priory Centre, Monmouth

A wonderful world of creative discovery themed around the fantasy story of Alice In Wonderland. Young voices will come to life through various expressive art forms, with expert practitioners guiding participants through the rabbit hole and hopefully … out the other side. With opportunities to perform, design, build, do make-up, work in costume, this is an opportunity for anyone who is interested in getting creative, having fun and learning about themselves through the arts. Senior students only (ages 11 years and above)

WEEKEND
Saturday 3rd Aug and or Sunday 4th Aug times TBA
We will be enjoying a Mad Hatters Tea Party outside and around the Priory Centre on Saturday 3rd August, 11am – 2pm August, and will use the rest of this weekend to create, design and build props, set, costume and make-up for the show.

WEEK TWO
Monday 5th August – Saturday 10th August 10 – 4pm
This week will be open to ages 7 – 10 years and will include all senior students from the first week.

Summer Showcase

Borough Theatre, Abergavenny

A selection of bold and powerful works put together and performed by participants of the Creative Futures Project.

The Creative Futures Project gives people aged 11 – 19 years space to express their ideas, concerns and imaginings through theatre. Focusing on issues of identity, isolation and fantasy, this showcase pulls together works that employ the various skills and practices learned through the year and highlights the power of theatre as a method of telling stories and shaping communities. With improv, physical theatre, spoken word and more, expect laughter, tears and challenging ideas all delivered with courage, enthusiasm, and passion.

The Creative Futures Showcase endeavours to inspire as many future theatre makers and story tellers as possible and help shape exciting opportunities for local young people. Come along and see for yourself the immense power of theatre and learn how you could be a part of it!
