Let Your Imagination Run Wild – Drama Workshops

In collaboration with SAVOY YOUTH THEATRE & Back Yard Theatre.
Tuesday May 28th – Friday 31st May
Time: 10am – 3pm
Age: 7 – 14 years
Venue: The Priory, Monmouth
Cost: £15 per day – bursaries available on request for low income households

The Savoy Youth Theatre is collaborating with Boston (USA) based collective, Back Yard Theatre to present a 4 day creative workshop.

An integrated workshop with 3 experienced practitioners, the emphasis is on the students’ imagination and using their thoughts and ideas to build a shared presentation.  Workshops will include the devising and creation of story and themes, costume design, set and make-up facilitation and many other aspects, depending on the direction of the devised piece. Developing skills and practice, the workshop will also focus on building self esteem and confidence and allowing the young people a safe space to explore their creativity, have fun and make new friends.

May Half Term Theatre immersion

Tue 28th May, Wed 29th May & Thurs 30th May
Time: 10am – 3pm
Age: 14 – 19 years
Venue: Corn Exchange, The Borough Theatre, Abergavenny

3 days of free workshops focused on prominent and exciting areas of practice within theatre.

Day 1 will be dedicated to the art of writing and directing, using the themes and issues of participants to script and develop work.

Day 2 will concentrate on different aspects on design in theatre, showing participants what it takes to create an imaginative and functional performance space.

The final day will see students learning the art of acting on camera and showcase the different techniques that lead to successful on-screen performances.

Working with specialist tutors, experienced actors and a professional camera crew, these 3 days will be a fun and engaging way to develop your practice and connect with other passionate people.  The course is aimed at anyone aged 14 – 19 who is interested in exploring their creative potential and telling their story, through theatre.

All sessions are free and funded by the UK Prosperity Fund through Monmouthshire County Council.

Artist Residencies and Workshops in collaboration with Youth Services & Dance Blast

A series of dynamic sessions held in local youth Centres.  Curated to inspire and empower young people through theatre, allowing them to explore their potential, build trust with other participants and explore creative ideas in a safe environment where they feel supported and able express themselves with integrity and purpose.
