Creative Futures allows time and space to develop creative work and creative practice with young people.
It is a collaborative programme that supports local arts activity and importantly gives young people a voice in its development.
Committed to empowering young people, the project brings together numerous arts and youth organisations, developing a network of spaces and opportunities that give emphasis to the exploration and enjoyment of creative practice.
The project aims to inspire conversation amongst young people and to develop a genuinely engaging programme based upon the issues and theatre skills of interest that emerge as the most current and important to them.
The programme consists of bespoke youth arts sessions that are curated and led by the most experienced local and national arts practitioners. Incorporating writing, physical theatre, and numerous other theatrical skills, Creative Futures is working to establish a Monmouthshire Youth Theatre, where local young people will create multi-disciplinary performance, grow their practice, and be provided with the platform for further study and work in theatre.
We know the incredible talent that exists amongst local young people and also recognise the difficulties that many face in accessing opportunities that inspire and engage. Sessions will be open to all, free of charge with some provision for transport to and from some sessions. The Creative Futures Project is committed to opening up the power of theatre to as many young people as possible giving everyone the chance to express themselves and tell their story.
Who is Creative Futures?
Funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, Creative Futures is a collaboration between The Borough Theatre, Dance Blast, Melville Centre for the Arts and Monmouthshire Youth Services.
Bringing together organisations committed to the arts and to youth, Creative Futures creates a Monmouthshire wide community of spaces and opportunities. Through collaboration, shared knowledge, expertise and resources, we will build a stronger network that supports young people in their journeys of self-expression.
