REBEL SUMMER
With UK Breakin’ and Avant Cymru
FREE Creative Workshops for 11 – 19 year old’s
ABERGAVENNY MARKET HALL – Thursday 28th August 2025 – 11am – 4pm (10am sign up)
CALDICOT CASTLE – Friday 29th August 2025 – 11am – 4pm (10am sign up outside castle)
This summer, Creative Futures is working with UK Breakin’ and Avant Cymru to host 2 days of free creative workshops for 11 – 19-year-old’s in 2 of Monmouthshire’s most iconic venues.
Held in Abergavenny Market Hall (28/08) and Caldicot Castle (29/08), the events will put young people the spotlight, giving them the chance to learn, demonstrate their skills and share their views and ideas through art, music and dance.
Young people will have the opportunity to sign up for a variety of different workshops, including; graffiti, djing, music production and breakdancing as well as providing people with the chance to come and look around, see creative professionals at work and meet other local people interested in hip hop culture.
If you would like to be part of it, head down to Abergavenny Market Hall on Thursday 28th August and/or Caldicot Castle on Friday 29th August from 10am to sign up – limited spaces available. Places will be given on a first come first served basis.
BREAKIN’
With BBoy Flexton

Jamie joined Avant in 2018 as a dancer on People Picture Power Perception. For his performance he gained special mention in reviews. Since then he has grown with the Hip Hop Theatre side of the company, choreographing on the Open Art Surgery showcase and developing his show ‘Dark Thoughts – How do you add your colour?” Jamie is passionate with using Hip Hop to improve health and well-being and we will be building hip hop for health and well-being opportunities, including regular classes and shows.
Jamie works with UK Breakin’ and Avant to develop Breakin’ education, his aim is to raise standards and create opportunities for his students and to share his practice with other teachers, developing Breakin’ for the future including the Olympic opportunities.
Jamie was awarded Wales Creative Tutor of the Year Award 2020 and, he was shortlisted in the One Dance UK Awards for his Breakin’ for Better Mental Health work.
Jamie trained at Swindon Dance, Circus Space and MHTC. He was one of the UK’s first CAT scheme graduates from the YDA Urban course. He has performed with companies such as Boy Blue Ent. He is an experienced BBoy, Hip Hop dancer and choreographer.
Jamie became a company director in 2019 as the Hip Hop Theatre representative on the board. Join Jamie in his breakin’ classes.
GRAFFITI
With AC Graffiti

Ash started painting in 2010, and is now a regular at organised graffiti events nationwide. He began his journey as an artist just to meet new people and paint with good friends. This has led to him being involved in The Dundee jam, which has been a major event since 2014, where he paints with SFM crew.
Taking inspiration only from graffiti art and culture, he recently made the transition from a career in law to becoming an artist, and now takes Inspiration from everything, from Jordan colour-ways, to autumn leaves and evening sky’s, He has started to broaden his horizons artistically but firmly believes that letters are still the essence and foundation of graffiti!
Having a strong base in freehand letter forms with influence from mostly New York and Germany, but appreciates pretty much all forms of graffiti, from LA to São Paulo!
Ash starts work for Baby People in September, teaching children excluded from education and supporting them with learning all things Hip Hop and developing their Graffiti knowledge.
DJING
With DJ HDEE

HDee has been a DJ and Rapper from a young age, growing up in a Hip Hop family he regularly makes music with his father.
HDee has become the resident DJ at Y The Lab Wrexham, playing Hip Hop and Kizomba evenings. At the same time he has been developing his teaching practice, most recently delivering workshops for Llangollen Fringe.
Join DJ HDee—for an electrifying DJ workshop designed to ignite your passion for music and turn it into real performance skills. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to sharpen your technique, this hands-on session will give you the tools, knowledge, and confidence to command any crowd.
MUSIC PRODUCTION
With Jamey P

Jamey P is a veteran of Welsh Hip Hop, he has been producing music for himself and other Welsh Hip Hop rappers for over two decades. He is a rapper with solo and group albums available on Spotify and other streaming platforms.
He has been delivering Music Production workshops for Avant Cymru since 2023, and they have proven very popular with young people learning to create their own music which they can rap over or dance to. Join in this 1:1 experience and start making music today!
