The season includes a diverse mix of music; classical concerts include a piano recital with Maria Marchant and a programme of Haydn, Schubert and Chausson by The Fidelio Trio. There’s a wealth of theatre this season. Chicken Shed have created an optimistic and powerful drama alongside South Gwynedd Domestic Abuse Services aptly named In the Absence of Silence. The highly acclaimed Welsh actor Gareth J Bale returns to theatre twice this spring; he reprieves his role of Grav, a one man show about the late Welsh rugby legend Ray Gravell and he has produced and will star in a Welsh language production of Miss Julie. The Torch Theatre commemorates the end of World War 1 with The Wood and they have also teamed up with Dirty Protest and Chapter Arts Centre to create Lightspeed from Pembroke Dock.

Events for children and families include an action packed adventure with Captain Flinn 2: The Magic Cutlass and The Flying Bedroom is a delightful bilingual tale told through dance and theatre.

As always, local community groups present a wealth of productions.

There will be a St David’s Day Concert with Blaenavon Male Voice Choir and local performers and the Concept Players stage the swashbuckling farce Pirates of Penzance. Hummadruz present The Summer of Love, Abergavenny’s Keith Davies returns with his popular tribute to Elvis (all proceeds to the Mayor’s Charity: Abergavenny CAB) and Theatre Ad Hoc perform their version of Blackadder Goes Forth.
