A4B, the umbrella organisation representing the amateur theatre community based at the Borough Theatre in Abergavenny is spearheading a drive to encourage everyone in the area to join in with the nation-wide We’ll Meet Again sing-a-long on Bank Holiday Friday.

With the Borough Theatre temporarily closed plans for a  special production commemorating V E Day have been  put on hold, but the cast decided they would not let the anniversary pass unmarked  so have recorded a special medley of some of the classic hits they were due to have been performing at the theatre this week.

You can see the film on the theatre’s Facebook page along with a specially recorded version of We’ll Meet Again.

“Our show ‘From Saucepans to Spitfires’ was supposed to open at the theatre this week but instead we are all in lockdown,” said A4B chairman Liz Davies.

“We’ve all been chatting online and holding our monthly A4B meetings via Zoom so we decided to be brave and try our hands with some modern technology to record this World War II medley. Fortunately most of the cast are quite young so it has actually worked!

“It’s been a lovely collaboration between the socially distanced cast, our musical director Sarah Fowler, local musician Andrew Hopkins and the Borough Theatre” said Liz

With Abergavenny Theatre Group and AAODS already having postponed their spring productions the video comes as a timely reminder that the theatre community in Abergavenny is alive and well with many local performers gaining fans with their regular Facebook performances.

“We’re all missing rehearsing and getting together and being at the theatre so it’s great to do this and I hope it will let everyone know that all our local societies will be ready and waiting just as soon as the theatre doors open,” said Liz
