RICHARD ZHANG, Piano

Praised for his refined musicianship and structural control, Richard Zhang brings colour and fluidity to The Borough Theatre stage.

Ravel’s Gaspard de la Nuit inhabits an enchanted world of fairies, demons and ghosts while Schumann’s pieces Op.12 are simply full of fantasy.Song-like, Schubert’s popular sonata D.664 is infused with Austrian friendliness while Chopin’s Nocturnes and Mazurkas evoke Polish nationalism.

Richard Zhang, born in Jiashan, China, was a pupil at the Yehudi Menuhin school and a finalist in the Aarhus International Piano Competition. He has given various recitals in China and Europe and performed in the Wigmore Hall.  He has also partnered the distinguished violinist Alina Ibragimova in a recital.
